The Fiji Beach Resort & Spa, managed by Hilton, has opened in 2006 at Denarau Island, near Nadi. The central facilities offer a relaxing spacious area with a number of pools on different levels. The pools are lined with deep blue tiles, giving a distinctive shimmering lapis-coloured quality, which combines well with surrounding loungers in natural colours. Some pools have horizon edges with the water spilling over in a series of relaxing mini waterfalls.
The panoramic views take in the distinctive Sleeping Giant Mountains to the east (pictured), as well as the expansive Nadi Bay and craggy peaks of Vomo Island and the Yasawas to the north, and the teardrop sandy islets of the Mamanucas to the west, where the sunset can be enjoyed dipping behind the island of Malolo (which means sunset in Fijian).
